I have been in
the same job for over 15 years now. I can hardly stand getting up in
the morning knowing that I have another eight hours that will seem
like 20 at a job I hate. What should I do?
Ken C. Boston, MA
Dear Ken, My
first suggestion is to have you get out of your usual space. Get out
into nature and reflect on who you are and what you want out of
life. Think about what you like to do. What did you enjoy doing as a
child? Put that type of questioning buzz in your mind. We have a
series of probing questions that might shed some light. We also
offer a free career assessment tool. The bottom line is to determine
what tugs at your heart. Could it be that you do enjoy your present
type of work but the particular situation you are in or maybe the
people that surround you are what gives you dissatisfaction? You are
a very good candidate for life coaching. If you cannot afford a
personal coach, our online course for only $89.95 can be a
lifesaver.
What is
absolutely required is action. Don't spend another day miserable. It
is your life!
Much Aloha,

Hi! I am a
high school teacher and really need to organize my life. I get
overwhelmed with school projects, papers to grade, sports activities
and my wife and kids. How do I find the balance? I need more hours
in my day! What do I do to start this process?
Tim C.
Mission Viejo, California
Hi Tim, thanks
for writing. This is a common dilemma for most people. You have only
so many hours in a day and the question is: how do you manage it all
in 24 hours?
First off, you
must prioritize your time. You must decide what you find to be most
important and get those things done first. Get the whole family
involved. First you will need to list all the items that make up
your week. Once that is done rate those items on a 1-10 scale where
a 10 is something that is a must do. After all your highly ranked
items have been scheduled into your week you can start including
those items farther down that prioritized list as time allows.
Most people
spend 3-4 hours per day watching T.V., talking on the phone,
haphazardly running errands, and not being efficient with their
time. So if you can plan your day in detail and with priorities
established, even down to the time to exercise and scheduling
quality time with your kids and wife, you will become more balanced
and much happier.
Sometimes you
have to say “no” to things that are not important. If you find you
are spending too much time on the weekend socializing, you may have
to say ‘no” for a month to all social engagements. This takes
practice. It is amazing how much of our time is spent on frivolous
pursuits when in fact we should be spending time on the important
items. It is up to you to determine what is important but some
helpful hints may include, turning off the T.V. for a week or
relegating sport activities to those involving the entire family.
Only you can determine the balance that works for you and your
family.
Hope this
helps. Thanks for asking.

Dear Mark and
Lisa,
I am a single
Mom with three kids. My mom helps me with the kids when I work. I
need help finding a career that makes me happy. How do I go about
looking for something I like, and also, what is a good resource for
me to do a test of my skills?
Karen M.
Columbus, Ohio
Hi Karen,
That’s a great
question, thanks for asking. There are numerous ways in which you
can find a career.
There is a
great book:
"Finding a Job You Can Love" By Ralph T. Mattson.
This book will give you some insight
on finding what you love, and how to get there.
Our online
life-planning course offers a career assessment program called, The
MAPP program. This is a tool we use to help you find a career you
love. If your new career requires education there are numerous ways
to accomplish this, especially since your mom can watch the kids.
There are also a variety of ways to fund this education.
Of course, you
can also hire a personal coach like Mark and myself to get more
personal coaching and help you to determine the things you love. We
are training in analyzing your life and what specific things would
work best for you. We have the resources necessary for you to
accomplish your goals and create the life of your dreams!
Good luck in
your quest.
Lisa
