Tara Yoga and Meditation Center

The forty expansive acres at Tara are located moments from world-famous Akaka Falls State Park. This special property offers guests panoramic ocean views with stunning sunrises, peaceful forest walks, beautiful river pools, and is home to a spectacular four hundred foot waterfall.

Tara offers a wide variety of options for vacations and retreats on the Big Island. This is the perfect facility for a variety of gatherings and vacations in Hawaii! We offer dolphin swims, kayaking adventures with the whales, family and children's retreats, yoga and meditation, and much more.

We welcome all interested in private retreats, group retreats, group rental, family retreats, weddings, B&B accommodation, and any other event you may wish to be a part of or create at Tara!

Tara offers beautiful, tropical, asian-style accommodation on 40 acres of tropical land in the most lush and abundant area of the Big Island.

Tara offers standard and deluxe accommodation at reasonable prices. There are private rooms in the main center and rustic tropical bungalows tucked into the trees, or surrounded by bamboo. Take a walk down to the river and enjoy its deep cool pools or view a 400 foot waterfall! Walk in our orchards and gardens barefoot, or meditate under a banyan tree. Awaken to the birds in the morning and watch the sunrise over the ocean, its golden rays streaming down into the waves. Enjoy long walks on country roads, or a downhill bike ride to secluded black sand beaches where the rivers meet the sea!

We have taken every measure possible to make the lodging natural, a part of the natural surroundings, simple, and elegant. This extra large sunken bath, for instance, with bamboo and redwood walls, offers peaceful seclusion and silence in candlelight.

Tara can accommodated up to 25 people comfortably in a variety of lodging options.

We are currently accepting Work-Retreat applicants to this special place, as we build, plant, and work with the land. Work-Retreat is a powerful introduction to the teachings and practices of meditation and spiritual growth for those interested in long term retreat.
