Ancient Hawaiian Huna

Come to our Huna training November 1-8 on the Big Island!

HUNA is the ancient Hawaiian philosophy and teachings of healing, personal growth and spiritual development. This training is based on the simple truth that you are the light and you are magnificent. Anything that keeps you from experiencing and actualizing this truth will be cleared away.

The training is designed to allow you to let go of negative emotions, limiting beliefs & decisions from your past which keep you from having all the love, joy and happiness you can. The Hawaiians call this type of cleansing ‘noa’.

We then move on to ‘noho’, which is the process of invoking your higher self into your present existence. You will learn a way to connect with your higher self in such a way that you can create your future the way you want it. Our goal for you is to come away from the Hawaiian Islands with a true taste and experience of living aloha. We’ve designed these 9 days with the intention for you to live the teachings of Huna throughout your everyday life. Participants will be initiated into 4 sacred symbols. These symbols are to be used for the healing and evolving of yourself and others.

Ancient Hawaiian Huna

Ho’o ma’ama’a Aumakua

Kona, Hawaii

November 1-8, 2003

A sea turtle slowly makes his way up a black sand beach.  Spinner dolphins jump in the small waves of a protected Bay, as the sunsets over the deep blue Pacific waters.  The white sand beach enveloped by flora and fauna, catches the last rays of the golden sun as it dips below the horizon.  Everything is at peace.  Simply another day on Hawaii’s Big Island!

Kona is world renowned for its snorkeling, sport fishing, sunsets and coffee.  In Hawaiian Kona means leeward and the area of Kailua-Kona stretches along the islands west side.  Drenched in sun throughout the year, Kona is known for the peoples aloha!

Unlike other seminars and trainings, most of our Huna training is done outdoors in order to immerse you in the beautiful elements and give you a true Hawaiian experience!

Day 1 Sunday

12 – 6PM  Opening Ceremony with Etua Lopez (Kumu Hula Master) and his halau (hula troupe) will perform the kahiko (ancient) hula in this inspiring traditional dance of the ancient Hawaiian people.  King David Kalakaua once said “Hula is the language of the heart and therefore the heartbeat of the Hawaiian people.”  The kahiko must be witnessed and experienced to be fully appreciated.  We are honored to be welcome on the sacred grounds of Hulihe’e Palace.  You will be introduced to our trainer Maggie Omaikalani Connor to the fascinating, little known history of Huna or Ho’o mana.  We begin instruction in the Three Selves, Ha Breathing to increase the life force energy of your body and Hakalau- the waking meditation of the kahuna.  We will also cover introductory to the Five Elements.

Day 2 Monday

All Day.  We travel to South Point, then back north to Volcanoes National Park, Kilauea Caldera.  Weather permitting we hike around the rim of the crater Helema’ u ma’u - the home of Madame Pele, Hawaii’s Fire Goddess of the Volcano.  Erupting since 1983 this is the earth’s most active volcano.  A walking meditation in silence across the rim allows you to behold Pele’s massive creation and devastation!  You will receive sacred symbols before you sit to meditate.  We will do a group offering (Ho’okupu) to Pele before we leave the area.  After our hike, you may wish to dine at the Historic Volcano House.

Day 3 Tuesday

1-6PM  Intro to Prime Directives of the Unconscious Mind, and Time Line Therapy.  Daddy Bray said “first noa (cleanse), then noho” (invoke)  Today you will be cleansing and clearing away negative emotions, limiting beliefs and decisions from your past which no longer serve you.  This is the safest, fastest way we know of to clear away “stuff”.

Day 4 Wednesday

1-6PM  Pu’uhonua o Honaunau – place of refuge.  This National Historic Park preserves aspects of traditional Hawaiian life on the Bay of Honaunau.  With its protected canoe landing and fresh drinking water this was a natural place for the ali’i (royalty) to establish residence.  It was a place of refuge for defeated warriors and noncombatants in time of war.  On these sacred grounds we will have a discussion on chanting and why we chant.  We will guide you in the moving process of Ho’o pono pono and the Hawaiian Code of Forgiveness.  Also you will learn the Prime Directives of Aumakua.  Now is the time for the Higher Self Connection.  We will noho (invoke) your Higher Self.  Our past participants all experienced a direct, undeniable experience of their Higher Selves, the unconditional love and wisdom, which is available to all of us.

Day 5 Thursday

1-6PM As time permits we may guide you in the powerful Hiolani meditation – meditation on the light.  This day is for your Initiations into the ancient healing symbols used in Ho’omanaloa, known as “Na’ao Opua Kilokilo, Ka Haiki a Na Lani”.  This is a series of 36 symbols.  Kiaina’auaomaikalani discovered them in a manuscript dating back to approx. 1860.  This is a process by which one becomes enlightened by the noho category.  The means of noho is by bringing down the light from the heavens through the supreme mana riding on the breath.

Day 6 Friday

1-6PM  We will spend time with The Five Elements, Balance and Elemental Healing.  Also you will be instructed in the beautifully simple, healing Huna of Taneo Sands Kumulai - The Basic Ahi (fire) Ritual, Honua (Earth) Ritual, and Wai (water) Ritual.

Day 7 Saturday

1-6PM  Closing Class will cover The Assumptions of Huna Magic as well as Higher Self Therapy (HST for second class students only).  Dream Time and Interpretation plus Induction.  At Hulihe’e Palace – You will learn how to give an Energy Session and receive one, plus go on a Journey to Your Higher Council.

A Traditional Luau with Kumu Hula Master Etua Lopez and his Halau on the Mahelani Moon (full).

Aloha!

Dedicated to Our Inspiration and Mentor Uncle George Lanakilakeikiahiali’I Naope Kahuna Po’o O ka Hula

NOTE:  Most days start at either 12 noon or 1PM and go until 6 or 7 PM, giving you mornings open for strolls downtown along the seawall, shopping at Kona Village, snorkeling with turtles, etc.  We reserve the right to change this schedule due to weather, availability of our Hawaiian Kumus and guests, and the needs of our group.  Classes may also be held at some or all of the following sites.

  • Ho’okena Beach – Uncle Wayne & Uncle Harvey, our Hawaiian friends and guests graciously allow us to be at their family site on this classic, unspoiled Hawaiian Beach.  Keep an eye out for spinner dolphins!
  • King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel – The only Hawaiian owned hotel on the Big Island with a gracious staff.  The rare, historic Ahu’ena Heiau (sacred place of worship) dates back to 800AD and is part of the hotel grounds next to Kailua Pier in the heart of Kailua-Kona.  There are many interesting prints and artifacts lining the interior hallways of the hotel making you feel as though you are walking through a museum rather than a hotel lobby.  Mikahala Roy, Hawaiian language and history teacher is executive director of Kulana Huli Honua, a non-profit organization which gives excellent guided tours covering the Heiau, hotel grounds and interior.
  • Waipio Valley – Up north, just past Waimea town where country charm prevails is Waipio Valley - The Valley of the Kings is one of the most awesome sites to behold on any of the Hawaiian Islands.  The combination of light blue skies dotted with white puffy clouds, verdant green cliffs jutting down into pacific blue waters crashing waves against black and white coral sand beach puts even the most seasoned traveler in awe!  Waipio, where you can feel the “aloha spirit” is alive.
  • Keahoau Bay – Just a few miles down Ali’i Drive sits another picturesque area on the Kona coast with historic significance to the birth of a King.  Many canoes, catamarans and sailboats arrive and depart from this lovely Bay.
