Module # 6 - The Plan - Introduction

As we said earlier, it is most important to have goals. To accomplish these goals, we will help you to form a plan.  When working from a plan, you will be able to accomplish your goals quicker and more efficiently.  Remember, you can stop and change your goals along the way, if you discover the goals you set aren't quite what you want.

The plan requires you to identify what is holding you back and what it will take to make your goals a reality. The first step we want you to take is to get out your completed goal sheet and then list all the things that might be getting in the way of attaining those goals.  Then, you will make a list of all the things that are necessary to make those goals happen. You need to prioritize your goals. You need the tools and resources to accomplish these goals. We will help to provide these. Writing down your goals is 90% of it! Now you need to execute a plan on your goals to make them succeed. Intention is a very large part of it. By planning in detail your more major goals you will get to where you want quicker and more efficiently.

First, your plan should have a grand vision. Then, you need to prioritize your goals. For example, if my goal were to have a new and wonderful home, first I would need determine how I would afford this home. Next, I would look at what I am doing for a living. Would my occupation realistically provide for the expense of that dream home? Then, I might look at what would my life be like when I am living in that home. Would I be able to enjoy this beautiful home, or will I be working too much to afford it?  Would my relationship with my spouse and family suffer while pursuing my goal? Is it worth that?

The key to ultimate happiness is balance.  It is important to balance all areas of your life. This seems to be the most difficult thing for most people. Either they work too much, play too much, eat too much, or watch too much TV. You get the picture.  Moderation in all things is key.  Strive for the balance.

Look at how you answered your rating system in the  “goals development process" of your action steps. From this input you should have crafted your grand vision when you wrote about your "ideal scenario".

Try not to deviate from your grand vision. You need to constantly be aware of this grand vision. Perhaps write it down and leave it on your desk. Put it in your daily journal. Stick it on your refrigerator. Embrace it in all you do.

Remember, your life is the JOURNEY, not the destination! Remind yourself of this if you get overwhelmed. Things take time to change. So does accomplishing your grand plan, or your grand vision.

You will notice that creating a life plan will help make your journey more joyous and exciting. You will discover if something has been missing in your life. It is time to create a PLAN! Then you will have a mission! When you execute it correctly, you won't have time for problems. When problems arise, as they most definitely will, you will create solutions to solve these problems, rather than living in the problem.

Now you need to look at your goal list and fashion a plan on how to meet your particular goals. For example, if you want to save more money and invest for your future you first need to create a budget. Once you have budgeted, and figured out how much you can save, you will be able to invest those funds. You might ask where and how do I invest this newfound money? A little research into investing strategies like diversification and asset allocation might be something you do. An understanding of stocks, bonds and mutual funds will certainly be of benefit.  These are just a few of the ways to create a plan for your financial life. You will need to do this with each goal.  Write down the goal, and then write down the plan for that goal. Be precise, be specific.
